Rasberry Leaf (Rubus idaeus) is an herb primarily used for its benefits to females. It is highly beneficial in tackling the moodiness sometimes caused by hormonal fluctuations in pregnant mares and young fillies coming into season for the first time. Raspberry leaves are high in calcium and help balance the delicate equilibrium between Progesterone and Estrogen, preventing dominance either hormone to preserve homeostasis (hormonal balance). The vitamins, mineral and plant compounds help the body to detoxify extra hormones.

Magnesium (Mg) is a vital macromineral, and it is becoming increasingly recommended by veterinarians for
various treatments in the horse. Because one of the clinical signs of magnesium deficiency is nervousness, it
is added to many calming supplements. Magnesium helps support a normal inflammatory response.
Magnesium may play a role in insulin resistance and equine metabolic syndrome. Within the muscle calcium
and magnesium work antagonistically — calcium causing muscle contraction and magnesium inducing
relaxation. If there is not enough magnesium, muscles tend to spasm. Although the presence of low magnesium
in the muscle tissue may stem from a genetic disorder rather than dietary quantities, there are reports of
horses that have responded to magnesium supplementation for support of chronic tying-up.

Taurine can be used alone, or with other calming ingredients, for anxious behavior or horses in challenging situations. Also supports heart and muscle function along with liver and nervous system health. It can be found in supplements for growing horses, nervous horses and horses with metabolic issues. Dong Quai Root (Angelica sinensis) the root of dong quai is undoubtedly one of the most honored and respected herbs in China, and its reputation is growing in the rest of the world. Experts estimate that dong quai has been used by the Chinese for at least 2,000 years. Dong quai is sometimes referred to as “female ginseng” in reference to its ability to regulate menstrual disorders.

Dong quai an herb that has been used for more than a thousand years, coined as 'female ginseng' it helps promote a normal/healthy  cycle in mares. In addition, it also serves as an invigorating tonic for the blood and is believed to have antispasmodic and muscle relaxant activity.

Chasteberry has been used for centuries to help maintain  a balanced hormonal  system in both females and males.  Has been used in horses with irritable behavior, aggressiveness and older horses dealing with pituitary issues (troubles shedding out etc).

Is Levelor only for mares?

MVP:  Thank you for your question!  No, geldings can also benefit from Levelor by providing support for anxious and nervous behavior.

I have a mini mare who weights around 300lbs. A few other supplements I’ve been told to give half the horse sized dose and wondering if I should be giving her a full scoop or a half?

MVP: We would recommend using a half serving of Levelor for your miniature horse.

How does levelor compare to mare magic? I feed my mare mare magic now, once scoop once daily, she seems better but still a little flighty.

MVP: Mare Magic contains only pure raspberry leaf, while Levelor™ provides raspberry leaf plus additional ingredients such as taurine, magnesium, and chasteberry extract for more comprehensive support.

Does the supplement Levelor make a horse drowsy and/or lethargic?

MVP:  No, the supplement is formulated to aide in easing a horse's anxious and nervous behavior.  It supports a quiet disposition.

Noticed a significant improvement

I started my gelding on this supplement and I have noticed a significant improvement in his disposition. I believe he's just more comfortable with life. I have tried other calming supplements that include tryptophan and after some research I discovered that tryptophan doesn't even cross the blood brain barrier....no wonder it didn't work. I've had him on Exceed 6-way, and also flies away, so I decided to give MVP another try, and I'm glad I did.
